Natural effect on the text

In this lesson I will teach you the process of creating a natural effect on the text. This is what the final result looks like.

Let’s start!

Step 1. Create a new document size 1200×600 pixels, Fill the background with black. Select the font you need and type in any text. This will create a new layer with the text above the background, name it “text”. Place the text in the middle of the image.

Rasterize it by right clicking on the layer and choosing “Rasterize the text“.

Step 2. Double click on the “text “window will appear Overlay options (Blending options).
Inner shadow (Inner Shadow):

External glow (Outer Glow):

Stamping (Bevel and Emboss) – default settings.
Circuit(Contour):

After applying all the above effects, you should get something like this:

Step 3. Hold down CTRL, select the layer with the left mouse buttontext“.

Select Selection – Modification – Expand (Select – Modify – Expand) and enter the value in 15 pixels.
Next, apply Selection – Modification – Feather (Select – Modify – Feather), re-enter 15 pixels. After the done operations should look like this:

Step 4. Find a picture with the image of foliage and load it in Photoshop.
The image that you see below, I chose for myself. You can take any picture you like.

Go back to our first document and move the selection to the image with foliage. Attention! At this step, you need to move only the selection, without text!
Copy selection to foliage CTRL + C and paste it onto the text document CTRL + V. Name the newly created layer “foliage“. This is what it should look like:

Step 5. Change Overlay options (Blending options) layer “foliage” on Hard light (Hard Light). Click CTRL + L and set the following settings:

It should now look like this:

Adjust the text a bit. Make the text layer active. Take EraserNatural effect on the text (Erase Tool)
(opacity and pressure – 50%) and lightly walk them along the bottom of the text.

Step 6. Ok. Now we add some wood texture to make it more natural. Find a picture of the bark, the surface of a tree or stone and upload it in Photoshop. Go back to the first document and select the tool. LassoNatural effect on the text (Lasso Tool), shading – 25 pixels Make a selection like in the image below.

Drag and drop ONLY the SELECTION onto the picture with the tree or stone, copy and paste on the first document. Name the new layer “tree”. Here is what happened:

Step 7. Make a layertree“active and select Image – Correction – Black and White (Image – Adjustments – Black and White), apply the following parameters:

Create a duplicate layer “tree“and apply Filter – Strokes – Emphasized Edges (Filter – Brush Strokes – Accented Edges) with the following settings:

Change Overlay options (Blending Options) duplicate layer “tree” on Overlap (Overlay).

Step 8. Holding the key SHIFT, make all layers active except the background. Click CTRL + T and distort the image as below.

At the last stage we will create clouds. On the new layer of the “cloud” draw tool Lasso Natural effect on the text(Lasso Tool) selection with shading 15 pixels. Fill the selection with black and apply Filter – Rendering – Clouds (Filter – Rendering – Clouds).

Click CTRL + L and apply these settings:

Now click CTRL + M and apply these settings:

Layer “the clouds“should be above the” tree (copy) “layer. Change Overlay options (Blending Options) on Lightening (Screen). This is the final result:
