Need for speed in Photoshop

In this tutorial we will create a beautiful poster with amazing effects of fire and light. We learn how to create a plastic 3D text effect without using the 3D function, so in this case you can use any version of Photoshop.

Final result:

Before you begin, you need to download lesson materials, then open a new document 1680 x 1050 px, resolution 72 dpi with a black background.

Create a new layer. (Ctrl + Shift + N ), select instrument Brush tool (B) (Brush) and in the center, draw the following shape using the color # a41602.

Open texture light-texture.png and transfer to work. Adjust the size (Ctrl + T) and place it as shown below.

Then do the same with the fire texture. fire.png.

Open another texture light-texture2.png, transfer to work and set the blending mode for this layer to Screen (Screen).

Next, select the tool Eraser tool (E) (Eraser) and erase the left side.

Create a new layer, take the tool Brush tool (B), diameter 1-2 px, hardness 100% and draw orange and yellow lines as shown below.

We now turn to the text. Install the font that you find in the archive and enter the text Need For Speed. Each word must be on its text layer. Set the following parameters for the words Need and Speed.

And for the word For

Select any text layer, double click on it to go to the blending options and apply the following layer styles.

This is what should happen.

Next we need to duplicate this layer 20 times. To do this, select the tool Move Tool (V) (Move) and while holding the Alt key, press the down arrow on the keyboard.

This will give us the following effect.

Go back to the original text layer, create a copy of it and move it above all text layers. Clear layer styles – PKM – Clear Layer Style (Clear styles).

Install the set of gradients in Photoshop, which you will find in the archive with the materials for the lesson. Apply the following layer styles to the layer.

We get the result of the 3D – text effect without using the 3D function in Photoshop.

Now do the same with duplicating layers for other words. Next, copy the layer styles from the previous text and paste on the new text layers by going to the menu Layer> Layer Style> Copy / Paste Layer Style (Layer-Layer Style – Copy – Paste Layer Style).

And here is the result.

From the set of Optical Flares (which you will find in the archive with the materials for the lesson) open the texture Optical-1.jpg Place it as shown below.

Then go to menu Image> Adjustments> Hue / Saturation (Image – Hue / Saturation).

Change the layer’s overlay mode to Screen (Screen).

Do the same with the other flare from this set (Optical-7-psbdox file).

Next, create a new layer, take the tool Brush tool (B) and paint particles with a brush with stars (you will find brushes in the archive with materials for the lesson). Colors are yellow and orange.

Finally, add a Levels adjustment layer by going to the menu Layer> New Adjustment Layer> Levels (Layer – New adjustment layer – Levels).

We are done. The final result.
