In this lesson you will learn how to create an interesting snake text effect using reptile skin textures and some styles. This effect can be applied not only to text, but also to forms.
Materials for the lesson:
Create a new document, the size depends on your text. Write any text in Pacifico. The color of the text at this stage is not important.
If you don’t have this font, here’s a quick tutorial on how to install a font in Photoshop.
For a text layer, open the styles window and add the following styles. As you can see, the style Bevel and Emboss (Embossed) there is a tab Texture (Texture). This means that you must use the pattern that I used to create a relief effect. To do this, you must download the relief map pattern and set it in Photoshop.
Your text should look like this. This is not a snake effect, but we are almost at the end of the lesson.
Now we have to add the texture of the skin of a reptile. Choose your favorite texture. Add skin texture to work above the text layer as a clipping mask in relation to the text. Thus, the texture will cover only the text.
If your texture is smaller and does not cover the entire text, duplicate the texture layer and move it so that it covers all the text.
If you want to add any additional details to the text, then create a new layer, select a round hard brush and draw. To this layer you need to add the same layer styles as for the text. You should also add a texture that was added to the text as a clipping mask.
For the background, you can add one of these beautiful leather textures: leather texture collection 1 and leather texture collection 2.
For this effect, you can use any reptile texture you like. It will look just as good. I also decided to add a leather belt with a stitch effect.
