Step 1

Open the image of the pattern in Photoshop. We will use it as a background for text. Go to menu Editing> Define a pattern (Edit> Define Pattern) and save the image as a pattern.

Create a new document (Ctrl + N) with a size of 1152×900 pixels. Set the primary color to # 8a5240, and the background color to # 310901. Choose a tool Gradient (Gradient Tool) (G): Style (Style) – Radial (Radial), Gradient – From Basic to Background (Foreground to Transparent). Make a fill from the center of the canvas to any edge.

Choose a tool Fill (Paint Bucket Tool) (G) and in the settings on the top panel set the fill Patterned (Pattern). In the list, select the pattern saved at the beginning of the lesson. Create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + N) and fill it with a pattern.

Install Blend mode (Blending Mode) layer with a pattern on Overlap (Overlay) and lower the Opacity to 60%.

Step 2

Choose a tool Horizontal text (Horizontal Type Tool) (T), go to menu Window> Symbol (Window> Character) and configure as shown below. In the toolbar’s settings, turn on Anti-aliasing and set the Anti-aliasing method to Sharp. Write something on the canvas. For example, I wrote “A Heart of Gold”.

Double-click on the text layer to open the styles window. Apply the following styles:

Stamping (Bevel Emboss):

Circuit (Contour):

Internal glow (Inner Glow):

Gloss (Satin):

Gradient overlay (Gradient Overlay):

Drop Shadow:

Step 3

Create a new layer on top of the rest and name it “Texture”. Set the base color to # ffef48, and background on # 593809.

Select the text layer (while holding Ctrl, click on the layer thumbnail).

Apply the Clouds filter, Filter> Rendering> Clouds (Filter> Render> Clouds). To remove the selection from the canvas, press Ctrl + D.

Step 4

Navigate the filter gallery Filter> Filter Gallery (Filter> Filter Gallery). In the category Sketch (Sketch) select filter Magic pencil (Conte` Crayon) and customize it, as the following screenshot shows.

Next, apply another filter – Ink (Graphic Pen). He is in the same category.

Then apply the filter Oil painting (Paint Daubs) from the Imitation of Artistic Effects category (Artistic).

Install Blend mode (Blending Mode) Layer “Texture” on Soft light (Soft Light) and lower Opacity (Opacity) layer up to 30%. A beautiful reflection effect will appear on the text, like on real gold.

Step 5

Set the foreground color to #9e0039, select instrument Brush(Brush Tool) (B) and go to the brush palette (F5).

Adjust the brush as shown below:

Brush Print Form (Brush Tip Shape):

Form Dynamics (Shape Dynamics):

Step 6

Right click on the text layer and select Create work path (Create Work Path).

Create a new layer under the text and name it “Stroke”. Choose a tool Arrow(Direct Selection Tool) (A).

Right click on the contour and select Outline the contour (Stroke Path).

In the window that appears, select Brush (Brush) and check the box for Simulate Pressure.

The contour will be outlined with a brush, which we set up in the fifth step.

Step 7

Go to the “Stroke” layer styles and set them up like this:

Stamping (Bevel Emboss):

Circuit (Contour):

Casting a shadow (Drop Shadow):

The text will be thicker and more voluminous.

Use the same brush to draw points on the edges of the red stroke.

Step 8

On top of all layers, you need to create a correction layer. Gradient map (Gradient Map). This can be done through the black-and-white circle icon at the bottom of the layers palette.

Install Blend mode (Blending Mode) adjustment layer – Soft light (Soft Light) and lower the Opacity to 50%.

Adjust the gradient like this:

Colors will become brighter and lighter.
