In this lesson, step by step, we will draw a portrait of a girl with a beautiful glow around her.
Final result:
Step 1
Create a new document in Photoshop with the following parameters:
Step 2
Create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + Alt + N), select the tool Brush (Brush Tool) (B) and color # 2d0f02 paint over black canvas like this:
Step 3
Create a new layer and use a hard brush to draw the silhouette of the girl with the color # ddbeb1. You can use any photo as a sample, but it is not recommended to outline a silhouette, since you yourself must understand anatomy, perspective, chiaroscuro, etc. If you are a novice artist, it will take you a long time.
Create a new layer and use a soft brush to add a shadow to the right edge of the silhouette with the color # c99b89.
Step 4
Create a new layer with a soft brush and color # 7b6055 to color the nose.
Add a mask and use a soft brush to erase the shadow of the nose. Increase stiffness when working on nostrils. When determining the shadows, it is important to consider the location of the light source. In our case, we will arrange it in front of the girl.
Create a new layer in mode. Multiplication (Multiply) darken the area inside the nose with the same brush.
Step 5
Create a new layer and use # ddbeb1 to paint the base of the ear with a hard brush.
Add a mask and create a smooth transition between the ear and cheek.
Create a new layer in mode. Overlap (Overlay) with clipping mask, filled with 50% gray.
On the gray layer, we add shadows and light to the ear to create volume. Need to work tools Clarifier (Dodge Tool) (O) and Dimmer
(Burn Tool) (O) in range Mid tones (Midtones) and 20-30% exposure. The following shows what the layer looks like in the normal blend mode and in the Overlap.
Add a mask and reduce the amount of light in some places.
Step 6
Create a new layer with a clipping mask and a soft brush with color # 7b6055 Add more shadow to the inside of the ear.
Step 7
Create a new layer under the ear layer and color # 7a432c draw a shadow from it. Do not worry about the correct shape of the shadow, as its main part will be covered with hair.
Step 8
Create a new layer and paint with a hard brush using the color # e8b5bb.
Create a new layer under the lip layer and a soft brush with 20-30% opacity and pressing the shadow with the color # 7a432 as shown in the screenshot.
Create a new layer with the same parameters as in step 5. Add shadows and light on the lips: the front should be light and the edges should be dark.
Step 9
Create a new layer above the lips and a hard brush with the color # fbf3f4 10-15 pixels in size paint the lips texture.
On the new layer, draw a shadow between the two lips with the color # 452c2e.
Step 10
Create two new layers, filled with 50% gray. Add shadows and light to the body, as shown in the screenshots.
Step 11
Now let’s do an eye. Create a new layer at the very top and use a soft brush using # 8e5b46 to paint the base for the eye. Use the mask to correct the shape.
Reduce the size of the brush and paint the wrinkles under the eyes.
Step 12
Create a new layer under the shape of the eye and use a hard brush with the color # d8d6d6 to paint the sclera of the eye. You should not use white color, as the eye will turn out unnatural.
Tool Clarifier (Dodge Tool) (O) brighten the edge of the sclera.
Step 13
Create a new layer and use a hard brush to draw the pupil with the color # 231917. Color choose at your discretion.
On a new layer, use a soft brush to paint the details of the pupil using the color # ced0d0.
Create a new layer with a hard brush and color # f1f7fb draw a reflection on the pupil.
Step 14
Create a new layer with a hard brush and color # f1f7fb draw a contour on the eye.
On the new layer, draw the inner contour on the bottom with the color # e9e4e2.
Step 15
Create a new layer and use a hard brush to paint the eyelashes using the color # 231917. Remember that they should not all be of the same thickness.
Step 16
On a new layer, draw an eyebrow with the color # 6c4e49 with a hard brush with 40% opacity.
Create a new layer and use a hard brush with color # 5e483f to add a brow.
Step 17
Create a new layer under the eye group (it is better to group the layers so as not to get confused in them). Brush with the color # 7a432c and draw a shadow under the chin and ear.
On a new layer, use a soft brush to paint # c99883 with shadows on the head and body. Set the blending mode Multiplication (Multiply).
Create a new layer and use a soft brush using the color # e9e4e2 to add light to the girl’s face and body.
Step 18
Now we will make the skin more realistic. Create a new layer at the top and select a black hard brush. Open the brush panel (F5) and adjust the brush like this:
Draw freckles on your face and use a mask to make them less bright.
Set the blending mode Soft light (Soft Light).
Step 19
Now we will slightly change the color of the skin with the help of corrective layers. Create an adjustment layer Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation):
The second adjustment layer is Photo filter (Photo Filter): # 0815ec.
Step 20
We turn to drawing hair. Create a new layer at the top. Choose a brush with color # 3a1f27 with 60-65% stiffness. Draw long hair as shown in the screenshot.
Step 21
On the new layer color # 5e334c draw the main strands of hair.
Step 22
On a new layer, draw smaller strands with color # 784262.
Step 23
Create a new layer and use the color # 9d5981 to draw even smaller strands.
Step 24
All layers of hair are combined into one group (Ctrl + G). Set the group to normal overlay mode. Inside create a correction layer Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation).
Step 25
To add hair volume, work tools Clarifier (Dodge Tool) (O) and Dimmer
(Burn Tool) (O) on a separate layer.
Step 26
Create a new layer and use a hard brush to color # fff0bd paint a highlight on the eye. Set the blending mode Hard light (Hard Light).

Add a mask and make these particles less visible.
Apply style External glow (Outer Glow): Mode – Brightening, Color – # e47361.
Apply filter Gaussian blur (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur) (Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur) with a value of 1 pixel.
Put this layer in a group (Ctrl + G) and set for it the blending mode Lightening basics (Color Dodge).

Apply filter Gaussian blur with a value of 15 pixels.
Step 33
Create a new layer and use a hard brush with the color # bcff00 to draw this pattern:
Create multiple copies, resize and reposition them. Apply filter Gaussian blur with a value of 2 pixels to one of the patterns in the bottom corner.
Step 34
Change the color of some wavy patterns with a correction layer. Hue / Saturation (Hue / Saturation).
Step 35
Use a soft brush and color # bcff00 to draw the glow to the left of the girl.
Step 36
Now add another color to the entire canvas. Create layer fill Color (Solid Color): # 26011a. Set the blending mode An exception (Exclusion).
Step 37
Create an adjustment layer Color balance (Color Balance).
Step 38
