We draw a funny landscape in Photoshop

In this tutorial, I will show you how to work more efficiently with your tablet and Photoshop. Using the settings for brushes, you can achieve very beautiful results. I’ll show you how to make a watercolor paper texture, create a special brush, and also a beautiful wooden frame.
Here is what we should draw:

Step 1. And so, the first thing to do is, of course, a sketch. Here, on a new layer, I made a sketch of the landscape with the main focus on a large tree in the center. I note that the outline of the line should not reach the edges of the canvas.
Name this layer “Sketch”.
Remember, this layer should be above the others, and all colors will be under it.

Step 2. Now prepare the paper itself to make the picture look more realistic.
To do this, first double-click on the background layer (which was white when the document was created). This way we unlock the background layer.
Again, double click on the unlocked layer to open the window Layer styles (Layer Style) and select Stamping (Bevel Emboss).
In the subitems select the item Texture (Texture). Here, look for the most beautiful paper texture for you. I chose the texture “Wet watercolor paper” (Washed Watercolor Paper.

Make sure that the texture scale is not enlarged and not reduced – the value 100% should be selected in the Size field.
The texture was too contrasting. Fix it.
Go to tab Stamping (Bevel Emboss). Reduce the size to 2 pixels.
Name this layer “Canvas”.

Step 3. It is time to adjust the brush. To go to the settings window, press F5.
In this window you can experiment a lot with the parameters … But we will try to make such a brush to fit the texture of our canvas.

Choose any brush , which you like.
Reduce the intervals.
We go to Brush Print Form (Brush Tip Shape) and reduce spacing to 1%.
We go to Form dynamics (Shape Dynamics). The size variation (Size Jitter) is set to 0%, and the Minimum Diameter (Minimum Diameter) to 100%.
Also in the control window should be Pen pressure (Pen Pressure).

Now run into Texture (Texture). Set the same texture as used to create the canvas. Set the Overlay mode.

Now finally go visit Other Dynamics, or in some versions of the Transmission (Other Dynamics).
Make sure the box Opacity swings (Opacity Jitter) is set to 0%, and the Flow Jitter field is approximately 31%.
Do not forget to tick Wet edges (Wet Edges) and Smoothing.

Step 4. We now turn to drawing. First, let’s start with the background.
Set the opacity for the brush to about 20-25% and set the blending mode for the brush. Multiplication (Multiply).

Create a new layer, name it “Background”. This layer will be used only for drawing the background.
Increase the size of the brush slightly and start painting in loosely chaotic strokes. Do not forget about the force of pressing the pen, the less your hand presses on the tablet – the more transparent the strokes. Use this to mix colors.
Do not paint the background heavily.
Like the outline lines, do not brush strokes to the edges of the canvas.

Step 5. Drawing individual objects.
When you draw a new object, always create a new layer.
Arrange the layers so that it does not turn out that the tree is in your water.
Since each object is drawn on a new layer, if you make a mistake, you can delete the layer and redraw it.

Step 6. You can slightly “muffle” the outline of the outline so that they are not very visible. Simply reduce the opacity of the draft layer to 20%.
Create a new layer under the layer with a draft and name it “New Sketch”.

Choose a tool Brush (Brush) and go to brush settings. AT form dynamics (Shape Dynamics) reduce the minimum diameter to 0%.
Return full opacity and normal blending for the brush. Select the desired color to draw the object. Start drawing objects and outlines so that they acquire a small pencil effect.

Step 7. Creating a frame.
Hooray! The picture is complete. But for the feeling of the picture, we place it in the frame.
Click Ctrl + A, then go to menu Editing> Stroke (Edit> Stroke). Choose a nice brown color, 15 pixels wide, inside (Inside).

Double click on the layer, the layer style window will open. Select Stamping (Bevel Emboss), style – Internal bevel (Inner Bevel), technique – Smooth (Smooth). In the contour window, select any contour that you like. Then go to the Contour sub-tab, select the same contour there.

And add a shadow. Change in the parameters do not need anything, reduce only the size (Size).
You can show that your masterpiece. Just create a new layer and sign here.
Everything! Our cartoon masterpiece is ready!
