We draw a picture of rest in Photoshop

Note Per .: Dear friends, in this lesson you will not find a detailed description of each step of the author, this is a survey lesson for those who already have a pretty good experience in drawing. But you can draw inspiration from it and learn the principles of creating a digital drawing. I wish you a pleasant viewing!

This picture is created just for fun, without using literature as an inspiration, this is just my imagination, with the exception of the flag on the jacket. I studied only on classical trainings, so my way of working with digital tools is very simple, because I always try to paint in Photoshop as if I were doing it with ordinary pencils or brushes on paper or on canvas. Perhaps my skills are not completely accepted, even when I draw in the traditional way, because I rely on instinct and speed without any special techniques, but it’s convenient for me.

Step 1. Usually, I first draw on paper in pencil in the traditional way. Then I scan the sketch and finish it in Photoshop. In this case, the first sketch was made right in the new Photoshop document on a white background, of course, on a new layer. For him, I used the standard brush with size 5, black, tough, with 20% Opacity (Opacity). This draft layer was the main guide for the further process; reducing it Opacity (Opacity), I can paint areas on separate independent layers, relying on contours.

Step 2. To designate different areas of the composition, for a start, I created layers with parts colored in only basic colors. Blocking Opacity (Opacity) of these layers, I will paint over the details of each part, using the layer as an independent canvas. Now the time has come to paint the environment, drawing only dots of green and brown using a large brush with the function Airbrush (Airbrush), and a smaller brush for drawing bugs flitting in the air, so we can easily get a realistic blurred background effect.

Step 3. The next step is the beginning of drawing the details of the face using a darker tone color to indicate wrinkles and other details.
Here I changed the size of the brush and its many times Opacity (Opacity). As soon as I finished with this, I marked out deeper shadows in dark brown and better displayed volume.

Step 4. For the little hairs covering the face, I used a very thin standard brush (size 3, Opacity (Opacity) 100%) on a separate layer and used different tones depending on the direction of the light source and on the part of the face. Then I added a little pink blush on my cheeks and white highlights on the skin.

Step 5. At the moment, it is very important for me to create a new layer to create a lighting effect, since by drawing white highlights on an independent layer, I can correct the flaws without affecting the layer containing the face.

Step 6. As soon as I finished the work on the face, I experimented with color Options (Variations) to raise the shadows and increase the red color.

Step 7. I gave a dirty look to the cap with a standard brush with a very low Opacity (Opacity). The dark circles on the spots are just new touches superimposed on the old ones. Then I drew dark shadows on the hat to give volume and on the shoulders of the jacket a large brush in the mode Airbrush (Airbrush) with Opacity (Opacity) 10%. Dirty spots on the jacket are made with a pre-set Spatter brush of brown colors with a low Opacity (Opacity).

Step 8. In conclusion, I drew the rebel flag on a separate layer, trying to repeat the shape of the jacket, and also used the same tools to give a dirty look.
