Step 1. Draw the basic shape of the hair using a darker color than the one you wish to receive. I want my hair to be red, so I chose copper brown as the base color. Remember that in most hairstyles, hair will be knocked out. The hair is strand, so do not forget about it when you try to create a suitable hairstyle.
Step 2. Let’s go to brush parameters (brush options), select parameter Other dynamics (Other Dynamic /Transfer) and install opacity fluctuation (opacity jitter) and pressure fluctuation (flow jitter) on pen pressure (pen pressure). Then select a form brushes (brush tip shape) and install interval brushes (spacing) by 0%. Deactivate also the parameter shape dynamics (shape dynamics) we do not need it at the moment. Install stiffness (hardness) brush about 80%.
Now we’ll choose a brighter and more saturated color and brighten the hair with a large brush to shape it. Then reduce the brush size by about half and add shadows. Using a darker color. The main mistake I made was insufficient shading of the hair and lightening them only at the top of the head. This did not give me an idea of what the direction of the hair would be, and I got stuck at the moments when it was necessary to draw individual strands.
Step 3. The next part is mixing, you can perform it on a new layer if you wish. Now go back to brush parameters (brush options) and activate form dynamics (shape dynamics). Ensure that the parameter minimum diameter (minimum diameter) you have installed about 30%. If it stands at 0%, the strands will look casually, as if stuck together. Leave the parameter active. other speakers (other dynamics) and set the brush size to quite small (in this example, as you can see, it is set to 8). Use bright color and start adding strands! DO NOT try to make them symmetrical and avoid touching them. Real hair strands overlap. Real hair mixed. Always remember how you want your hairstyle to look like, and add colored strokes from the scalp downwards.
Step 4. Save your previous brush settings. Again start to draw from the top of the head, going beyond the bulk of the hair, and downwards, creating small strokes. Using eraser (eraser) will help soften the edges of the hair. Keep working on your hair until you achieve the desired results.
Step 5. It’s time to add some highlights! To do this, use the tool. clarifier (dodge). I do not use it for anything else but to create my own drawings, because this is not the tool that artists would like to use. I also want to note that this step cannot be generalized. Different colors react differently to the instrument. Clarifier (Dodge). I want her hair to be a warm red shade, so I set range (range) clarifier on Sveta (highlights) and exposure (exposure) 35%, then lighten up. Remember step 2? I lighten up in the same places as before. Do not overdo it! Ordinary hair has a healthy shine, not radioactive!
Step 6. Add the final touches. I shaded my hair a little more and erased the halo from the highlights around her head … I also painted my face. Yes, I’m not going to talk about it in detail, because I myself am still learning. I’m still learning to draw hair! I learn everything! It helps me to improve. Do not follow my instructions clearly. If you do not experiment, then you will not be able to improve. I always change the drawing technique.
I hope that helped you!
Have a nice drawing!
